National Safeguarding Adults Week - course material
Safeguarding Adults Week is an annual national campaign where organisations come together to raise awareness of important safeguarding issues.
Safeguarding Adults Boards are central to planning, coordinating and delivering Safeguarding Adults Week locally and provide education to strengthen how organisations, communities and individuals work together to protect adults at risk. The week also provides an opportunity to help people in our local communities understand how to recognise safeguarding concerns, how to respond appropriately, and promote that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Safeguarding Adults Week 2026 takes place from 16 to 22 November.
During Safeguarding Adults Week 2025, the Derby and Derbyshire Safeguarding Adults Boards hosted seven multi-agency training sessions covering a wide range of safeguarding topics. These sessions included cybercrime and online safety; domestic abuse and older people; sexual abuse and older people; unpaid carers; low-level support; safer cultures in sport; and co-production.
In addition, two service managers from Derbyshire County Council’s Safeguarding Adults Quality and Development Team, working in partnership with the Safeguarding Adults Boards, produced two short videos highlighting the importance of co-production in safeguarding. These videos, which are available on YouTube, amplify the voices of people with lived experience and reflect the Boards’ commitment to inclusive and person-centred safeguarding:
- What does co-production mean to you? features Ottiley Baker in conversation with Noel Mitchell, an unpaid carer, exploring what co-production means from his perspective.
- A second video discusses the work of Derbyshire County Council’s Safeguarding Co‑Production Group, with contributions from Ottiley Baker, Amanda Davies and Noel Mitchell the work of Derbyshire County Council’s Safeguarding Co-Production Group.
